The Value of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity
- Ensure understanding of terms and the difference between ‘equity’ and ‘equality’
- Learn about the economic, societal and innovative benefits of diversity, equity and inclusion
- Identify potential hurdles to creating an equitable environment
- Establish practical approaches to create and improve organizational policies and practices that promote equity
Power, Privilege and Allyship
- Identify different forms of power and privilege, looking at practical approaches to share such power and thus promote equity
- Understand the meaning of allyship, the importance of sharing power and privilege, and using it to defend and support others

Mental Health, Disability and Accessibility
- Understand mental health disorders as invisible disabilities

- Reflect upon the harmful stigma surrounding physical disabilities, as well as the lesser-known obstacles that people with physical disabilities often face regularly
- Identify ways in which organizations can promote, support, advocate for, and include those with disabilities both physical and invisible, so that they are given equal opportunity to thrive
Mentorship and Sponsorship
- Obtain practical and theoretical knowledge of the value of mentorship and sponsorship for employee engagement, retention, and leadership development – particularly for those who are underrepresented in a given profession or workplace
- Identify effective strategies and approaches to strengthen mentorship and sponsorship within and beyond the workplace
Respectful Workplaces
- Understand the nature, gravity and prevalence of sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination in the workplace, and the potential effects it can have on those who experience it
- Acquire practical expertise around the prevention and addressing of sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination
- Establish effective strategies to enhance policies and practices around sexual harassment and discrimination
Upstanders and Bystanders
- Understand the gravity of discriminatory violence and the detrimental effects it can have on individuals who experience it
- Recognize the greater environment in which discriminatory violence occurs
- Reflect upon the role that identity plays in facilitating the actions of perpetrators, victims, bystanders, and upstanders
- Identify what it means to be a bystander (or versus) and upstander
- Identify ways in which an organization can promote upstanding instead of bystanding
LGBTQIA+ Awareness and Inclusion
- Understand the range of identities that can fall under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, and the long history of oppression that these communities have faced, and continue to face
- Recognize gender norms as a deeply ingrained social construct, and reflect on the ways in which organizations can facilitate more inclusive and diverse environments
- Reflect upon the role of language and unconscious bias in the continued subliminal oppression of the
- LGBTQIA+ community
Identify ways that an organization can ensure an LGBTQIA+ inclusive culture
Race and Racism
- Learn the history of institutionalized racism and the legacy it leaves today
- Understand the difference between overt and covert racism and the detrimental effects they can have on those who experience them
- Reflect upon the ways in which organizations can work to better integrate people of colour, support and advocate for them
Hiring, Promotion and Compensation
- Strengthen understanding of how unconscious bias can impact hiring, promotion and compensation decisions
- Identify effective strategies to prevent, reduce and eliminate such biases in hiring, evaluation and promotion practices
- Identify effective strategies and approaches to prevent, reduce and eliminate inequity in pay and compensation
Gender Identity
- Understand the definition of feminism and touch upon its origins and history up until present day
- Look at the ways in which feminism has already aided in creating equity in the workplace and identify ways in which workplaces can continue to foster more inclusive environments
- Understand the difference between gender and sex, how gender socialization happens, and the ways in which stereotypes and norms are proliferated, even unintentionally
- Reflect on the rigid and opposing ideas of masculinity and femininity, and how they prevent diversity and inclusion from thriving in the workplace
Work-Life Balance and Caregiving
- Obtain a practical understanding of the personal as well as organizational benefits of work-life balance, leave for family caregiving, and flexible working arrangements
- Reflect upon constructive approaches and strategies to promote increased work-life balance and flexibility
Communication and Inclusive Leadership
- Understand how language and effective communication shapes attitudes and dynamics within teams and hierarchies
- Learn strategies for implementing more inclusive communication both internally, and externally (via marketing or with clients)
