Jasminder (She/Her)
Chief Executive Officer & Founder
Jasminder Sekhon is a dynamic and accomplished professional with a diverse range of experiences in the fields of social justice, advocacy, and community development. As the CEO & Founder of GEquity Consulting, Jasminder leads an organization that is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion through data-driven strategies that foster social accountability and sustainability. She has been awarded the Woman of the Year Award in 2022 for her work by the Women’s March Foundation.
In her role as the Community Development Coordinator at Victim Services Toronto, Jasminder works tirelessly to support and advocate for individuals affected by various forms of victimization. Her passion for social justice led her to pursue an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Oxford, where she focused her research on domestic violence and “honour”-based abuse’. She also holds a double degree in Political Science and Criminology from the University of Toronto.
With a strong background in policy analysis and research, Jasminder has worked with esteemed organizations such as Blue J Legal, the Special Investigations Unit, and Community Legal Education Ontario. She has also contributed her expertise as the Human Trafficking Prevention Facilitator at Victim Services of Durham Region and as a Course Designer & Facilitator for an Ontario-wide course on Human Trafficking.
Jasminder’s dedication to equity and human rights is evident in her multilingual abilities, fluently speaking English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu. Her cultural fluency allows her to connect with diverse communities and bridge communication gaps, fostering inclusivity and understanding.
Described as politically astute and strategically-minded, Jasminder brings a unique perspective to her work, challenging systemic oppression and seeking alternative solutions to complex social issues. As a dynamic speaker who has educated over 15,000 people in person and 60,000 online, she motivates and inspires others, providing guidance and coaching to navigate through uncertainty while implementing reliable and accountable systems for success.
